About Me
My Approach
My approach is mainly humanistic and integrative. I view the relationship between practitioner and client as the most important element in the process of counselling, and so the process is collaborative and often leads to healing in itself.
The individual process is something I hold in reverence, and I believe that ultimately I assist my clients with learning to trust themselves, and that hopefully this becomes their practice.
That they grow enough to make the choice to listen to and hear their own voice with clarity; and move from this space in their lives.
My Intention
My intention is to offer a gentle and constructive space for the individual, couple, family or group to explore opportunities for reflection and mindful engagement with whatever arises in the shared space.

Mindfulness
Mindfulness is present moment awareness and beckons the individual toward presence, and cultivating the position of the observer in their lives. It encourages value-orientated living and engagement with whatever arises with an attitude of willingness.
Mindfulness has profoundly influenced my personal life, the best way I can describe it is to say I believe I had been treading the water of my own judgement for years, when it made its appearance in my life it was like coming up for air. Of course, this came with great relief and so it seems only natural that I would extend its teachings to clients and groups.
Mindfulness helps us navigate the tumultuous nature of our mind and emotions by practising non-judgement to attain greater self- awareness. With the underpinning of Mindfulness integrative sessions include; learning to be less in your head and more present with what is happening with-in your body in the moment. Hence sessions often include moments of reflection of the client's somatic experience as a shift toward greater embodiment.
Reiki / Energy Healing
Energy healing takes place within the individual's biomagnetic field or aura, and is based on the principle of the body's natural ability to heal. Our understanding is that everything carries an energetic vibration, therefore how the individual receives whatever they engage with energetically may cause; distortion, dis-ease or blocks in their; physical, mental, emotional or spiritual body.
The aim of energy healing is thus to shift and clear this for natural energetic flow and healing to occur. In some instances energy healing may not complete the healing process of the individual, it can however provide clearing and conditioning for healing and flow to resume.
The reiki practitioner is seen as a conduit to universal energy available to everyone, and works within the 7 main energy centres also known as the chakras. I received my reiki master's training within the Usui tradition and offer energy healing as a treatment modality or an integrated form of treatment, which includes counselling and mindfulness practice.

Let's Connect
Spiritual Psychology
A diverse need exists for a counselling space orientated toward liberating the individual to share and express their holistic experience, that which they are entering the counselling process with; and having this held and honoured, even if it is a departure from traditional psychology.
Spiritual psychology acknowledges the metaphysical experiences of the client. It includes what holds true for them in matters of: connection to a higher power, spiritual practice, faith, religion, personal beliefs, culture and tradition; and by holding these in heart and mind bring them into alignment with their psychological and spiritual goals.
Thus the individual's process is guided by conscious intention. The need for inclusion of the client's spiritual experience in relation to their psychological dis-ease is necessary as it forms part of the meaning they may derive from their challenges. And as I have witnessed countless times, profoundly influences the manner in which they deal with these challenges.
Aptly described by Gary Zukav as "aligning personality with soul's purpose", spiritual psychology prioritizes conversation around the soul and how to nurture our connection to it through our journey with mental health and healing.
Conscious Relationship Counselling
Conscious relationship counselling intends to assist individuals to identify what is necessary to go beyond the functionality of their relationship, and enable a means to relate rather than attach.
Conscious relationships often gifts us with the ability to see ourselves more clearly through the experiences we have with another. The counselling process encourages each individual to recognize the sovereignty of the other and requests of them to consciously commit to respecting and honouring this, while simultaneously committing to their own individual work as a contribution to growth and harmony in the relationship.
This process requires empathy, a contemplative attitude, willingness to become aware of how their behaviours impacts the other- whether positively or negatively. Compassionate engagement and interaction is fundamental to the counselling process, and clients are guided to use reflective language with each other.
Key areas for exploration and awareness are; temperament, attachment styles, shared values and masculine and feminine energy, and how this contributes to the dynamic in the relationship. This approach is relevant to a counselling process with couples, families and groups, and has been a clarifying approach as a form of pre-marital counselling.
